VISA PROCESS

For you to obtain a valid VISA from the Korean government you must have the following documentation prepared ahead of time. The process usually takes anywhere from a week to a month depending how close you are to a Korean Embassy or Korean Consulate.

The basic steps involved in getting a position at any public/private school in a foreign country are the following.

1. You will need a diploma from a 3 or 4 year university in a country where English is the first language.

2. You will need a written resume or curriculum vitae.

3. You will need a criminal background check completed affixed with an apostille. (For the U.S. you need an apostille and for Canada you need notarization from a notary.)

4. You will need your original university diploma or a notarized copy from the Korean Consulate/Embassy.

5. You will need 2 copies of your university transcripts. (One for the school and one for use later.Only send one to the school.)

6. You will need to have 6 passport photos with a white background. (3.5cm x 4.5cm is the required size. 5 should be sent to the school and you should keep one for use later.)

7. You will need a completed health statement form.

8. You will need a completed consulate checklist. (This will used later and should not be sent to the school.)

Upon your arrival to Korea, you will have to receive a health check by an authorized hospital of the Korean Government. This is normally done within 3 months before receiving your Alien Registration Card (also known as ARC). It is important to remember that all illegal drugs will show up on the blood tests. If you are dirty, your results will be forwarded to the police for prosecution. Please be aware that the Korean Government is very strict on illegal drugs! All costs for the health check are the teacher¡¯s responsibility and are a requirement in Korea. Be aware that diseases/drugs are checked and screened for and may be grounds for termination and or deportation from your school in Korea. All costs incurred for airfare, apartments, and any other charges will solely be the teacher¡¯s responsibility if you don¡¯t pass the health check.
